Organisations and support groups

Parent-teacher associations

Parent-teacher associations (sometimes called the Friends of... your child's school, or PTA) have no formal powers but act as an informal channel of communication between parents and teachers and often are involved in fundraising and organising social activities. Ask your child's teacher for details about your local PTA, and also go to How to get involved to learn more on how you can stay involved.
