Introduction to navigating the site

If you're new to ParentsCentre, welcome! We hope you enjoy the site.

ParentsCentre has been running since June 2003 but we've recently redesigned and reorganised the site to help you find the information you want faster. If you have any comments or questions, then please use the contact form - we really want to know what you think of the site.

Homepage and browsing the site

The homepage is where you will find links to all sections. The main site content is navigated using the links that are always on the left hand side. You'll see that as you click through the links, subsections will open up highlighted in a different colour so you always know where you are.

You can also find information directly relating to your child's age using the 'Information for age...' buttons on the right hand side of the homepage.

We also provide links to specific and topical subjects in the 'Have you thought about' and 'Worried about' sections found at the centre of the homepage. Some of these links will take you to Directgov, the government's portal for UK citizens. Below this, other topical issues of interest are highlighted in our 'Current features' section.

Find a school

If you're looking for a school, ParentsCentre is the first port of call. Try our 'Search for schools, childcare and nurseries' tool [External Site] Opens in new window.

Search

If you want to find information on a specific topic, the site search is the quickest and easiest way. Simply type your keywords into the search box that always appears at the top of each page.

My recent pages

Just to make sure you don't get lost, we've added a 'recent pages' tool under the left hand navigation. This will list the last five places you've been on the site.

Discussion forums

Whether it's dyslexia, bullying, nursery education grants, choosing a school or antisocial teenagers, you're sure to find other users willing to add an opinion or offer advice in the Parents' Views forum [External Site].

Otherwise, try the Expert Views forum [External Site], where our specially appointed experts will be on hand to help.

There are already hundreds of topics and replies so a simple search will easily locate topics you're interested in. Everyone is free to read all topics but remember that if you want to post your own question or reply to someone else's you'll have to be a registered user [External Site].
