‘Benefits of sports and activities for children, schools and communities’ webcast

ParentsCentre is now showing an interview with Sebastian Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, on the subject of the benefits of sport.
London's staging of the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012 will provide a huge number of opportunities to increase children's participation in sport. Facilities will be built from scratch and existing ones improved meaning that schools and the community as a whole will benefit.
In the interview, Lord Coe explains how he got involved in sport as a youngster and how his parents supported him. He also highlights what he feels the role of schools should be in ensuring children have the opportunity to participate in sport and other activities.
On the subject of the successful London bid, he outlines the positive effects the Games will have on schools and communities, and how an increased emphasis on sport will help to counter such problems as obesity and poor health in children.
